Trieste and the Caves of Postojna

Meeting point, accommodation by bus and departure for Slovenia.

Arrival in Postojna (SLO), entrance and guided tour of the Postojna Caves, the most famous and important karst caves in the world. A fantastic interweaving of tunnels, majestic arches, salt, limestone sculptures shaped by small drops of water over millions of years, will be visible and crossed by a special train, on the only underground railway in the world with double track.

Departure for Trieste and free time for lunch.

In the afternoon meeting with the local guide and city-tour of the central European city par excellence, a compendium of elegant Habsburg architecture and Roman remains, historic cafes and castles, a border territory where you can breathe the interweaving of different cultures. Continuation of bus visits with a stop at the Historical Museum and Park of Miramare Castle built between 1856 and 1860 by the will of Archduke Maximilian of Habsburg, Emperor of Mexico, who chose it as a private home for himself and his wife, Princess Charlotte of Belgium. The building, boldly facing the sea, enjoys an enchanting panoramic position and the Park covers an area of 22 hectares.

Departure for the return to the places of origin with arrival at about 19.00

• morning entrance and guided tour of the Postojna Caves
• free time for the partecipants for lunch
• afternoon city tour guided from the historic center of Trieste (Piazza Unità d'Italia, San Giusto, Borgo Teresiano, Grand Canal, Ponterosso, Piazza della Borsa) to the Castello di Miramare
• 17.45 approx. departure to return to the places of origin

the reservation is mandatory and can be made by 16.00 on the day before the chosen date.

The excursion will be made only upon reaching a min. of participants (nr. 25)

Entry into Slovenia: all participants must travel with a valid document of identification for expatriation (no photocopies or documents in the photo)

Clothing recommended for the visit of the Caves: inside the caves the temperature is 8/11 ºC constant throughout the year. We recommend comfortable footwear, sneakers or otherwise equipped with rubber sole, a light jacket or a sweatshirt. Present yourself with a psychophysical condition, clothing and equipment suitable for the tour. If in doubt, discuss with the organization.

Photographs and video footage: during the excursions will be taken photographs and/ or video footage that may appear on sites and social networks for promotional purposes regarding the activity itself. Participation in the excursion implies the authorization to the publication of the aforementioned material. If you do not want to appear, you must notify us at the time of booking or guides on site.
