The Lagoon of Marano, the most northerly located lagoon system of the Mediterranean Sea, includes two Regional Natural Reserves open to visitors: Foci dello Stella (Mouth of the Stella River) and Valle Canal Novo. The latter is easily reached by land, whereas the former is only accessible by boat.
Also by boat every Wednesday from July 7th to August 25th it is possible to reach Latisana on the Tagliamento River, departing from Lignano Riviera, and visit the city and the weekly market. Discover the new Parco dei Pappagalli, the Parrots Park, the only one of its kind in Europe, with 300 species of birds, open all year round from 9.00 am to sunset. In July and August 2010 Latisana comes to life with the Doc Estate events, open air film projections, concerts, theatre and dance shows. On August 10th get ready to drink to the night of St. Lawrence during the wine tasting event Calici di Stelle, whereas from 10th to 12th September the city hosts the traditional Settembre doc celebrations dedicated to wine production and the typical products of our territory, with music concerts, sports and cultural events.
Don't miss from April 24th to May 9th in the Locality called Gorgo, "Asparagorgo" the asparagus fair, famous all over the region and belonging to the circuit "White Asparagus and great White Wines of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region".

A "Fest on the River" is scheduled in the last weekends of August on the river banks at Precenicco. Here you can enjoy wine and gastonomy stalls, music, canoe and bicycles contests and many shows.
The events calendar includes in spring the "Aperitif concerts" and, in summer, many concerts of the city bands and the concerts "dei Borghi".
If you want to take part in a typical Friuli feast, do not miss in Palazzolo dello Stella the celebrations dedicated to Saint Anthony in July. Here you find wine and gastonomy stalls and a lot of live music.
In the wonderful city on Marano Lagunare, in an enchanted environment suspended between water and land, the "Fest of ink-fish" (from June 4th to 6th), the Saint Vio feast (June 18th and 19th) and the "Festa Triennale" on August 15th cannot be missed.
